This is our second time making snow globes at TheTravelingclassroom.  I thought I would take this opportunity to share some pictures with you and give you a few pointers of what not to do, so that your snow globes turn out really cute.  (We made a few mistakes a long the way; wrong size toy, baby oil that didn't work well, floating artificial snow, and lids that didn't screw on tight enough.)

All the kids made their very own unique snow globe. We went for a little shopping trip to pick out some Christmas ornaments that were on sale.  Last time we looked around the house for some cute toys and came up with quite a few.  Toddler plastic toys work great.  Unfortunately there aren't any toddlers around anymore.  They grow up so quick.

Anywho, here are some things to consider when thinking about what kind of snowglobe scene you would like to create.  First make sure to use plastic and something that  isn't affected by water (no paper).  Second bring your jar with you when you go shopping to make sure your toy fits inside the jar. We ended up choosing some really cute snowmen.

Here is what you will need:

jars (1 per child)

glitter

toy or plastic miniature to make scene (MUST fit in lid)

hot glue gun

water

artificial snow (optional)

I also made some snow globe clip art.  Can you tell I have been thinking a lot about snow globes lately?  I guess I am missing the snow a little:)
